We are delighted by your interest in finding out more about Baptism for your child! Deciding to baptize your child means that you are willing to take on the responsibility of raising your child in the Catholic faith. It is the beginning of your child’s journey of faith, which will last a lifetime. We are happy to guide you through this Sacrament and special moment in your child’s spiritual life.

STEP ONE: Baptism Information Form and Choosing a Godparent(s).

Start the Baptism process by downloading & completing the Baptism Information Form (click here). Return the completed form by email to: shunt@dol.ca

Canon Law states specific requirements for choosing godparents; please ensure when choosing a godparent(s), they fulfill these requirements as outlined on the form.

STEP TWO: Baptism Meeting with the Pastoral Minister

​

Once the Baptism Information Form has been received and reviewed, our Pastoral Minister will arrange an in-person meeting with you. During this appointment, you will be given information on available dates & times. Baptisms are booked 3-4 months in advance.

STEP THREE: Baptism Preparation Session

​

Before celebrating the Sacrament of Baptism with London North Central Catholic Family of Parishes, parents (godparents if available) are asked to register for a Wednesday evening Baptism Preparation session prior to the date of baptism.

​

You and your child’s godparent(s) are encouraged to spend time reflecting on your own faith experience, your relationship with God, and how this child will share that experience.

​

STEP FOUR: Sacrament of Baptism celebration

​

Baptisms take place outside of Mass, celebrated by a Deacon at St. Michael’s Parish on the 1st Sunday of the month and St. Peter’s Cathedral on the 2nd Sunday of the month.

Adults seeking to join the Catholic Church should register for the RCIA program.

Baptism Certificate Request

*Certificate copies are created for those who have already received the Sacrament of Baptism.

 

There will be times when you, your children or elderly parents may need a copy of a Baptism certificate. The parish office can provide you a copy of the certificate in the Diocesan form as long as the sacrament was received either at St. Michael's Parish or St. Peter's Cathedral.
